You Were There

by Destini Davis

You were there,
Now you're nowhere

You were there,
Now you're nowhere
My heartache
Why can't this be fake
you were mine
if only I took the time
It's so hard without you
I really, really miss you
My protection
in all perfection

You were there,
Now you're nowhere

You always understood
you did everything you should
you used to run
we had a lot of fun
I think about you everyday
you left in April and now it's May
what am I supposed to do
I feel lonely and lost without you

You were there,
Now you're nowhere

I wish it were all a dream
Like yesterday we played in that stream
we spent long days fishing
we kept each other warm when camping
you may have gotten in trouble
but I just loved you double

You are my dog.
You were there,
Now you're nowhere

To my Diesel dog, my perfect soul mate
