Billie Holidog, the “delight of my life,” died peacefully in my arms on August 1, 2007 at 11 years old. She showed me what profound joy is and, in the end, profound sadness. She loved unconditionally, a lesson all humans should experience. She lays buried in my backyard with the ashes of her brothers Woofie and Kodiac and some photographs from our wonderful life.

I miss her terribly.
