Teddy Boy!

by Charlotte Wood
(Wolverhampton)

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
Not many farewell words were told,
Or not much time to say goodbye.
You were gone before I knew it and
Old age was the reason why.
My heart's still active in sadness,
And secret tears still flow.
What it meant to lose you, Ted, no one will ever know!
Since you will never be forgotten, I pledge to you today:
A hallow place in my heart is where you will always stay!
