Janey

Janey

We were Janey's 4th family in 4 years. The first wanted a hunting dog. The second treated animals poorly and left her with the house. The third adopted her for a few months. The lady came to our house and said they were getting her euthanized. My wife said, "No, we'll take her." I objected but was overruled.

I came back from a fishing trip on the day Janey was being spayed a few weeks later. Stopped in at the vet's office just as she was awakening from her surgery. She looked at me through the cage and laid a big wet kiss on my cheek. I told her I loved her too.

Today, my heart is broken. We put Janey to sleep just short of her 19th birthday. We would have liked to have known how many miles Janey walked with us. How many miles she boated with us (canoe, kayak, fishing boat). The vacations she took with us -- if dogs weren't allowed, we didn't go.

Oh, how she loved the camping too. Swam up until about 17 in every body of water she could find. She made us laugh, smile, cry. She was more human than dog. We still don't know if we taught her or she taught us.

Three years ago I left my wife. For 30 months, I made a round trip of 150 miles a week (some weeks twice!) just to walk my little dogter. She knew all my secrets!!! I came back to my wife 4 months ago. We're gonna make it. We're gonna make it because Janey brought us back together.

I sit and type and weep. How I miss her! The walks we took 3 times a day, rubbing her belly, whispering in her ears, giving her treats.

I love you, Janey Goodgirl. I always will, my lil pup.

Still Hurting
by: Janey's Dad

We've adopted a rescue dog. Going to pick her up December 4. She won't replace our beloved Janey but because of Janey, we've picked a dog that resembled her. Hopefully we'll love our new companion as much as we did Janey.

The pain of our loss endures still. The tears still flow. Love you forever, L'il pup!

I'm so sorry for your loss. It takes time, but "time heals" though memories stay. Somewhere your "Dogter" Janey is waiting for you.
