Our Best Friend Bagel

by Nadia Neri
(San Jose CA)

We got Bagel when he was 18 weeks old. My daughter was only 8 years old.

He was a handful but fun. We took bagel everywhere with us. He was the mascot of my daughter's team in softball.

Bagel was a happy dog. He gave us happiness in our lives. He was my husband's sober dog for 18 years of clean and sober.

Bagel passed away September 23, 2011. That was our wedding aniversary. It feels like we lost a son. I now he is in heaven and we will see him someday.

We love you Bagel.

We will miss him
by: Sarah Neri

He was only 8 weeks old when we got him, Mom. :) He was so tiny. He was the runt of the litter. He was the only one of his brothers and sisters that looked up at us from the pen. We didn't choose him, he chose us.

He was the smartest dog. He was potty trained early and never had accidents (we never counted peeing when he was excited as an accident!).

Bagels was my first dog, and he marked the anniversary of Dad?s sobriety birthday. He died on your 22nd wedding anniversary. His life was symbolic of many great moments in our lives.

We will miss your excited demeanor, your smiling face, your happy personality. You lived a long and happy life. I will miss you and always remember you, Bagels.
