Oscar the Blue Lurcher

by Tom McLean
(Lewisham, London)

Oscar was bought by a family friend shortly after the 2012 Olympics and was named after the infamous Oscar Pistorious. Oops!

Thankfully there wasn't a bad bone in him and he lived a happy and healthy 11 years. I helped to walk him for over half of that, with my mum, so we became his family too.

He was let go by his parents on the 25th March 2023, to end the cancer that was slowly consuming his lifeforce. We got to say our goodbyes earlier in the day, and he was so happy to see us all one last time, as if nothing was wrong with him almost.

He was the most loving dog I know, and was humanlike in his personality. He'll be sorely missed by anyone who knew him.
