No One Understood You, But You Loved Us All

Patron was only 17 months when we had to put him to sleep.

He loved my wife and I but didn't understand our grandchildren. They are young and were afraid because he jumped a lot.

Patron was extremely loving and smart. He would beg for my dinner by placing his head on my lap. He would only drink water from the bathtub faucet. He loved to lay down on the kitchen counter, or the top of the sofa. He would sleep with us in our bed. He was afraid of spray from a hose.

When we went downstairs he would run ahead of us. He was very fast, and smart. I would say "I am going to the bank" or just say "bank" and he would run to the door, for he knew the tellers would give him a biscuit.

I pray every day that he forgives me for allowing my wife to put him to sleep, for he bit my wife when he thought she was being too agressive. I blame myself for spoiling him with love and not teaching him or changing his behavior.

I miss him every day and don't know how to cope.

We still remember and cry

Patron be happy and watch over us. A day doesn't go by that I remember and miss you. Everywhere I go in our home brings up memories of you. Sleep well and be with god.

I am sorry for your loss. Everyone makes mistakes, and this sounds like one. Training is so important. Your pain will get better. I lost my little buddy Ned 3 months ago and it still hurts. Patron sounded like a smart boy. Listen for his bark in the wind and try to smile. It will get better. Good luck.
