My Shaggy Boy

Shaggy being Kool on Halloween 2009

We only had you six years but you stole my heart the minute I saw you. Shaggy was abandoned. His owner moved to Virginia and left Shaggy behind with a neighbor and never came back for him. That neighbor didn't want him either. Somehow he connected with my 21 year old son. My son brought him home one evening in a dog carrier. The saddest dog I have ever seen. He sat in a corner with his head down.

But that changed in two weeks with help from my husband and son. We made a visit to the vet, my husband groomed him, we bought him a new toy (his favorite till the day he died) and we changed his name to Shaggy, because with his coarse and curly hair he looked like a shag rug. His happiness, playfulness and cuteness all came out. He trusted us and he knew we would care for him and we would be friends forever.

Unfortunately he had many health issues. We did as much as we could to help him. He got very sick Sunday, March 27th. We took him to the hospital that night. He made a turn for the worse and on Monday morning, March 28th, 2011, we lost him. He was 8 years old.

We love you and will miss you very much.

Shaggy is buried in our back yard where we can visit him as many times as we want.

With All Our Love
