Mr. Meeko

by Kristi Mead
(Belleville IL)

Last puppy in the crate, the one nobody wanted.
They said you were too small and your growth was much too stunted.

We loved your tiny size and your odd little quirks.
We cherished your weirdness and considered it a perk.

You were a shameless cuddler and an always shaking little dude.
Your loyalty and your love could cure any sour mood.

When picking out your name we thought of a popular Disney coon.
You filled our lives with joy and your passing brings much gloom.

Though we had no chance to hold you and didn't get to say goodbye,
We must try to remember the good times as we struggle not to cry.

We will always remember you, my precious little chi.
We will love you forever, Mr. Meeko Mead.
