Greatest Dog Ever!

by Pete
(Victor, Idaho)

Mick was truly the best dog I will ever own. Life isn't long enough or lucky enough to have the honor of owning another like Mick.

I left Mick with a vet assistant, who was house sitting for me, rather than have him depressed in the kennel. He was struck by a vehicle in my small subdivision while I was away. I can not describe how it feels to know if I had boarded him he would still be alive.

Mick was an Australian Shepherd that I bought as a puppy. He was twelve years old and in excellent health. The person who hit my best friend didn't even stop, and they may even have come on the sidewalk to hit him. He almost never left his yard, but would use the sidewalk to go potty because of the deep snow on the yard.

My sitter let him out because he was so good at staying in his boundaries. He was only out for 5 minutes before she started looking for him and she found him dead on the sidewalk.

I am hurting so bad, not just because of my loss, but because he deserved so much more. I am a 62 year old guy and as tough as they come, but I will be crying unashamed for a long time.

Mick, you truly were the best. Goodbye buddy. I'm so sorry for not protecting you better.

How Tragic
by: Mama Martha

Dear Victor,

It is truly sad how desensitized people have become to the sanctity of life - which does include our beloved dog companions.

My prayers are with you during this time of loss.
