Critter snuggling with me on the couch in March 2012. ♥

Critter came into my family's life in early September 2011, when we adopted her from the Leitchfield Animal Shelter. She had been found wandering around a parking lot. After going to several foster homes and being returned, she found her forever home with us.

Critter was a 3 year old double silver dapple miniature dachshund female. She loved snuggling in our laps and giving kisses, but was afraid of men. She ran and played with our two big dogs, an English Springer Spaniel and a Sheltie. She went to rodeo with me, hung out at the barn while I took care of my horses, and played with the barn cats.

Critter's FAVORITE thing to do besides snuggle was to "worm" around in the grass. When she was cold, she snuggled up to our fat English Springer Spaniel. When she wanted to be picked up, she stood up and put her front paws on my leg and hopped up and down, whining, and giving me the hugest puppy-dog eyes I've ever seen.

Of course, Critter always got what she wanted.

August 27, 2012, Critter was run over by a school bus at 6am. She was NEVER one to run into the road or go anywhere near it, but for some reason, she did this morning.

Critter is in my family's hearts forever. It was not her time to die. I wish with all my heart there was something I could do to make her come back.

Rest in peace, baby Critter. I hope wherever you are, there is grass to roll in and a lap to snuggle on. ♥

Though your time shared was not long enough, may the joy and happiness that Critter placed in your hearts overshadow your sorrow.
