Dogs are miracles with Paws...

by Maneera
(India)

I have a 1 year old German Shepherd female. In every way possible, she means more to me than anyone else ever has. To me...she is an angel....a miracle...a wonder...and the best thing that ever happened to me.

Since we got her,we haven't been on holidays or vacations... because I can't bear to part with my dog, named Xena, and neither can my husband. But every holiday I spend at home...not taking long deserved vacations, feels so completely worth it when I reach home every evening and Xena greets me like I'm a blessing to her and her most beloved treasure.

Treasure every day

When I read your first paragraph, it made me sad because I had a dog I felt the same way about who I lost last May 14th. Although I still have 3 of her siblings, she was "The Special One." She meant the world to me as she was so special in so many ways.

She became sick with an autoimmune disease I believe may have been caused by her immunizations, something I did to protect her. I had a few months with her after she became sick but watching her grow weaker and weaker affects me to this day.

I miss her every day and I'd give up everything I have to have her back. I finally had her put down on May 14th as she became so weak she would drop her head on the floor as she lay down, too weak to lower it normally. It was the hardest thing I ever did but I cherished her last days immensely as much as they hurt.

I miss her so much, I'm now in tears just writing about it. I normally don't think about her as it hurts too much. But sometimes, like right now, I just have to think back about her and remember how amazing she was and how fortunate I was to have her.

I miss you, Mischief.

Inner Strength
by: Maneera

Dear Kevin,

I can understand your pain. For me, even imagining a life without Xena is difficult... She truly means the world to me and I couldn't have loved a baby more than I love her.

Someone once said that dogs have a very short life and that probably is their only flaw. I believe that is the truest thing I have read about dogs. Our little angels, little miracles can't be with us throughout our life, but the joy they give us, the love they fill our hearts with in their short lives can carry us through our lifetime.

You must try to be strong and remember the good times, the fun times, because your little furry friend would not hate anything more than you being sad.

Be Strong....

Thanks Maneera

You're right about their lives being all too short. If you go to "quote search" at the right and then search "Mischief" or "My big beautiful bear" you can read about her.

You can see a pic of her as a pup in my youtube profile. Search "Wunderdogg" on youtube.

I too love German Shepherds.

I know how you feel. I just lost my dog. He was almost 14. I know that's a long life for a dog but I'm almost 14 so I grew up with him. Every day of my life he was there. And know he's gone.

1/20/10 was the day I found him just laying there. It was scary and now I can't get that out off my head.
