We adopted Brandy from a dog rescue group in August 2003. We immediately had behavior challenges with her, but decided to give her a chance to show us what a sweet dog she could be.

There was never a more loyal, loving dog to us. She was particular about who she warmed up to, but there was only unconditional love and commitment to my husband and me. I'll never forget every time I opened the door when I came home from running errands or whatever, she was the first to greet me with a wagging tail and a "glad to see ya" look on her face.

I will miss her tremendously, and her absence is a huge hole in our family. We lost her to congestive heart failure. It was a relatively slow decline, but in retrospect, I can track it.

The painful decision to end it was the hardest decision I've ever made, but I know that she's free now, running and playing with the energy and vibrancy she had before the disease set in.

We love you Brandy!
